About the PippinHT

The PippinHT meets the same performance specifications as the rest of the Pippin line: 90% accurate and reproducible, >50% sample recovery, and the ability to collect narrow and evenly sized libraries (download a performance comparison with the Pippin Prep).
Q: Other than the capacity and run time, how else does the PippinHT differ from the Pippin Prep and BluePippin?
A: The HT features blue LED detection (fluorescein) like the BluePippin. The maximum amount of DNA that can be loaded is less (1.5 ug vs. 5 ug), as are the loading and elution volumes (25ul loading, 30ul elution, vs 40ul).
Q: Can the cassettes be loaded by robot?
A: Sample loading and elution wells are on a 9mm spacing and the cassettes have an SBS footprint (the same dimensions as a microtiter plate) to fit a robotic workflow. The exact dimensions of the cassettes and wells are available on the PippinHT support page.
Q: What types of cassettes are available?
A: 2% agarose (100-600 bp) and 3% agarose (90-300 bp) are available now. 1.5% and 0.75% agarose versions will be available by January 2015.
Q: Does the HT have pulsed-field electrophoresis?
A: It does, but it is unlikely (given the reduced length of the gel columns) that it will have the larger DNA resolving power of the BluePippin. The upper size selection limit has not yet been characterized.
